Itinerary

Byron Bay trip

DAY 1

Once arrived in Byron Bay, fuel up on a delicious lunch at Byron Bay General Store.

Afterwards, head to Captain Cook Lookout to start the Cape Byron Walking Track. This 3.7km loop trail weaves along the coast before leading you through bushland. You will climb the steps past both the Most Easterly Point in Australia and Cape Byron Lighthouse. Along the way, you will to catch incredible glimpses of beaches, surfers and even dolphins. On the way down, stop for a dip at hidden Wategos Beach before heading back into town.

Head down to Main Beach for an epic sunset, before lining up at the Beach Hotel for dinner and drinks. This is a famous Byron Bay establishment, with live music and a line out the door every night.  It boasts fantastic views over the beach front and always has a fun vibe. You cannot miss it while you are here.

Byron Bay Marine Park

DAY 2

Byron Bay is also home to Byron Bay Marine Park. The best way to experience this is by going sea kayakingGo Sea Kayak offers 2.5-hour guided sea kayaking tours of the marine park for AUD$89*, departing at 8:30am each day. Watch out for all kinds of marine life, particularly dolphins, whales and turtles. You will also get the chance to view the Cape Byron Lighthouse from a new perspective. Owned by the Byron Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, all the instructors are local experts on both marine life and ocean safety.

Being one of Australia’s most famous surf towns, jump out on the water this afternoon and try your hand at surfing! There are many surf schools in Byron Bay who offer group and private lessons. However, I recommend booking a 3-day package through Soul Surf School for AUD$180*. This way,  you will be able take lessons over the next three days here. Soul Surf School’s group lessons start at 1:30pm and last for 3-4 hours. This is the perfect way to spend the afternoon.

All the water activity today will be exhausting, so spend the afternoon relaxing and exploring more of the area’s beaches.

DAY 3

Start the day at The Farm Byron Bay to learn more about local agriculture and cuisine. Make sure to arrive by 10:30am to participate in the daily feeding. This is a fun opportunity to meet some of the animals and farmers here. If visiting on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday it is also worth booking one of the 11am guided farm tours for AUD$15*. Here, you will both learn more about the community’s practices and mission, and meet more of the animals. If visiting during the week, you are still be able to take part in a self-guided farm tour. Additionally, there is a fantastic restaurant, bakery, produce store and gelato shop onsite for you to grab lunch. Make sure to try some of The Farm’s produce before heading into town.

This afternoon, jump back out into the ocean for the second surf lesson with Soul Surf School. See how much you have already improved since yesterday!

Stone & Wood is a popular Australian beer, and you might discover a new favourite!
